End-to-end UX/UI design for an AI storytelling app for children — from user research and personas through wireframes to a high-fidelity, interactive prototype.
Parents want to engage their children in creative storytelling but often lack time or inspiration. Existing apps offer static, pre-written stories with no personalisation. TwinkleTale explores how AI can co-create unique, age-appropriate stories on demand, with characters, themes, and settings chosen by the child.
The design challenge: make AI feel magical and approachable, not clinical. For both children and their parents.
I started with user interviews and competitor analysis to understand pain points in existing children's app experiences. Key insights shaped the design direction:
The TwinkleTale design system was crafted to support a seamless and enchanting experience across every touchpoint of the app. From typography and color to iconography and UI components, every element is designed with children in mind — playful, accessible, and consistent. The system is fully scalable, ensuring that as TwinkleTale grows and evolves, the visual language remains cohesive across new features, platforms, and content.
The TwinkleTale web version brings the complete app experience to the browser, no download required. Designed to mirror the app in both functionality and feel, it gives children and parents easy access to AI-powered storytelling from any device. The interface adapts seamlessly to larger screens while preserving the same playful, immersive design that makes TwinkleTale magical.
The TwinkleTale marketing materials bring the magic of the app to life across every platform. App Store and Google Play screenshots were crafted to communicate the core experience at a glance — showcasing AI-powered character creation, personalized storytelling, and the ability to turn children's drawings into fairy tale heroes. With a deep cosmic palette, whimsical typography, and vibrant AI-generated characters, the visuals are designed to capture the imagination of both kids and parents, driving discovery and downloads across iOS and Android.
